Modesto Junior College Primary Data Center

Modesto Junior College is one of the oldest community colleges in California, and also the first in the state to build a junior college classroom building. Established in 1921, Modesto Junior College started out with an enrollment of 61 students, and grew to its current enrollment of 22,809 students on two campuses. Listed among its illustrious alumni are Avengers star Jeremy Renner, and Star Wars creator George Lucas, who was enrolled here in the early ‘60’s.

The project involved the construction of a new 4,554 square foot data center on the west campus of the Modesto Junior College Campus. A Protective Device Coordination Study was performed on this new addition. The scope of work consisted of a 3000A main switchboard and 800kW generator feeding several ATS’s, UPS’s and panels downstream. The types of devices involved in this system were Square D and GE Thermal Magnetic and Solid State breakers with Long Time, Short Time, Instantaneous and Ground Fault functions.
