Miami University, Levey Hall Undergraduate Science Building
Levey Hall is a 39,000 square foot, $8.7 million undergraduate science teaching facility, housing the departments of Biology and Chemistry. The electrical construction is estimated to be $750,000. The facility has two floors and houses undergraduate teaching labs, lecture halls, classrooms, and staff/faculty offices.

The electrical system consisted of a medium voltage distribution system and two main step-down transformers and switchboards. There are low voltage distribution and emergency distribution systems.

Role
Power Systems Engineering, the electrical sub commissioning consultant, provided design phase commissioning services to review the design and create commissioning specifications for the bid documents. The specifications were for the normal/emergency distribution systems; variable speed drives, lighting controls, and life safety/fire alarm. Construction phase commissioning services include witnessing a portion of the tests. The engineer will then train the university staff to observe and report the results of the remaining tests.
